Executive Summary

IEEE 802.11s is a Wi-Fi based Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) standard and it is suitable for various applications including Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). An experiment had been done to evaluate the performance of the protocol by using a network built on FreeBSD platform. The effect of providing more intermediate nodes and multiple gateway nodes placement in WMN had been observed. There will be more options for path formation if more nodes are added into a WMN. Based on the authors' experiment result, they found that addition of intermediate nodes can increase the bandwidth of transmission.
