Next generation high throughput satellite communication systems are expected to rely on the deployment of a high number of beams in the link between the satellite and the User Terminals (UTs), i.e., the user link. However, as the number of beams increases, the system performance becomes limited by the level of interference among users, due to the side lobes of the beams' radiation patterns. Current satellite communication systems typically cope with this increased level of interference by reusing only partially the frequency among beams.
