A strategic guide for government entities considering a bring-your-own-device support model.
Bring-your-own- device (BYOD) is a trend characterized by employees bringing personally owned consumer devices into public agencies and IT managers granting access to private networks, applications and content. According to a recent study, 84 percent of the Generation Y workers and 67 percent of the Baby Boomers who responded indicated that they choose their own device(s) for work without regard for existing agency policies. This presents a serious issue for government agencies, that tend to be highly sensitive to security and privacy concerns.
While BYOD provides opportunities to break from the traditional work model, a mobility solution should take into careful consideration the challenges presented by BYOD. Government IT leaders must determine how to leverage mobility solutions to produce the best result for their agencies, constituents, employees and, ultimately, their future. This paper provides guidelines for implementing mobility solutions that can help you transform your agency, through application modernization, increased productivity, better security and manageability.
