Ontologies play a key role in semantic driven application systems by providing shared knowledge models, and thus improve query answering and facilitate integration and cooperation between systems. It is desirable to construct ontologies from relational databases because most of data are stored in relational databases. However, the existing approaches put the emphasis on the analysis of the correlation between primary key and foreign key in order to construct ontologies. The ontologies generated by these approaches are either incomplete or coarse-grained in semantic information.
