An Efficient Method for Handling Data Segment with Multi-Level Caching Over Video-on-Demand Using P2P Computing
Now-a-days, Peer-to-Peer computing plays an important role in the fields of live streaming and VoD (Video-on-Demand). The VoD is a technique in which the data segments are accessed from the neighboring peer instead of downloading from the video server. Normally the data segments are maintained at the peers in various levels such as hard cache and soft cache. The data segments are downloaded based on their popularity. The most popular data segments are placed on the cache which is downloaded either from video server or from neighboring peers. There is lot of cache replacement algorithm has been introduced to replace the old data segment with newly arrived data segments. The old data segments may be thrown away from the cache though it is most popular.
