The rapid deployment of broadband wireless access has led to growing demand for multimedia applications in networks. Efficient sharing of resources becomes an issue especially in wireless networks where different applications have varying Quality of Service (QoS) requirements. As a result, an optimum utilization of the limited resources is required. In this paper, an enhanced scheduler based on a Modified Deficit Round Robin (MDRR) scheme for QoS provisioning to prioritize delay-sensitive applications in WiMAX networks is proposed. Various simulations were performed with a number of traffics such as VoIP, FTP and Email. To demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed scheduling, a performance analysis of the network was conducted in terms of throughput and delay.
