An FPGA Based Hardware Architecture for Network Flow Analysis

Free registration required

Executive Summary

Network monitoring and measurement have become more and more important in a modern complicated network. With the rapid growth in communication, the network link speed is increasing fast. So the need for high speed monitoring of network flow has emerged in order to maintain the network system stability and to fix network problems on time or to avoid network failure. To match this need, the authors propose a flexible hardware based architecture for network flow analysis (HNFA - Hardware Network Flow Analyser) suitable for wired networks. In their architecture, they explored the idea of Lookuptable and parallel processing for flow identification and monitoring. With this architecture, users can achieve flow analysis at a rate of 10Gbps.
