Executive Summary

Ad hoc networking somewhat differs from more traditional approaches, the security aspects that are valid in the networks of the past are not fully applicable in the networks. Ad hoc networks suffer from all weather attacks which may come from any node in the network. In this paper, the authors present an analysis of Byzantine attacks, propose a new algorithm for finding the intentional selective dropping attack by a node in Black Hole and Gray Hole attack. The proposed algorithm successfully attempted to detect and prevent Black Hole and Grey Hole attacks using the concept of probability of attacks.
