One of the main problems in Aspect-Oriented Software Development is the so-called fragile point-cut problem. Uncovering and specifying a good robust point-cut is not an easy task. In this paper, the authors propose to use Inductive Logic Programming, and more specifically the FOIL algorithm, to automatically identify intensional (or "Pattern-based") point-cuts. They present the tool chain they implemented to induce a point-cut given a set of identified join-points. Using several realistic medium-scale experiments, they show that their approach is able to automatically induce robust point-cuts for a set of join-points.
