Random Early Detection (RED) and RED-based algorithms follow the Active Queue Management Approach (AQM) in TCP networks. In this work, the authors study the average delay of TCP networks in terms of network performance. The authors have simulated the four main strategies being used to handle the congestion phenomenon in TCP networks, these strategies are: RED and RED-based strategy, Adaptive RED (ARED), BLUE-RED, Stabilized RED (SRED). An analytical comparison between these strategies in terms of their effects on the network delay has been made.
