In this paper, geographic routing protocols for wireless sensor networks are considered. While a combination of the greedy and face routing is a solution with a good performance well documented in the open literature, it requires the procedure of network graph planarisation which makes the protocol vulnerable to network topology changes and consumes extra energy. The authors introduce a new protocol called azimuth routing that is able to operate without any pre-routing procedures. They validate it through computer simulations. The obtained results prove its good performance and low routing cost.
