Executive Summary

In this paper, the authors study the impact of random access phase in Hiperlan2 medium access control frame. They propose and study several backoff strategies for the unsuccessful users in the random access phase. Markov chain modeling is used to model the random access channels. They also applied the error control to the transmission state. Instead of assuming the channel is error free, they studied the impact when the channel is in error. They developed analytical model and they applied this model for simple backoff strategy model.
