Bandwidth Allocation DBA (BA-DBA) Algorithm for xPON Networks
Passive Optical Networks (PONs) technology is considered as a promising solution for the next-generation broadband access network. In this paper, the authors present different Dynamic Bandwidth Algorithms (DBA) and estimate the bandwidth between OLT and ONT in order to improve network efficiency and packet processing. They show that queuing delays under dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm results in an unexpected behavior for certain traffic classes and with their proposed algorithm (BA-DBA) alleviate this inappropriate behavior. They conduct detailed simulations experiments to study the performance and the throughput of the proposed algorithms. Through respective simulations, it is estimated that the average queue size, the packet delay and the throughput of the proposed BA-DBA algorithm is performed better than a common SR-DBA algorithm.
