PC users in today's commercial client market tend to fall into two groups: power users and mainstream users. These two groups have very different computing needs - what constitutes appropriate PC performance for one group is quite different for the other. It behooves organizations to identify in which group their users fall, and to make their purchasing decisions based on the benchmarking results that reflect the way their equipment will actually be used. In this white paper, the authors examine what amounts to appropriate PC performance for the two groups of users in today's commercial client market. The authors illustrate how current computer hardware offers technological options that are adequate for most users.
