Brownfields - Tools to Manage Challenges

Brownfield's are defined as mature oil and gas fields in a state of declining production or reaching the end of their productive lives. They are typically over 30 years old. So why worry about them? The reason is they account for 67 to 72 percent of world production and, therefore, represent a significant resource to provide future production while utilizing existing infrastructure. This paper outlines major challenges associated with brownfields, analyzes appropriate types and levels of software-based technology that can assist in tackling these challenges, and presents examples of successful implementations.
