Business processes are part of the DNA of an organization. They enable the organization to deliver service to its customers, executing the business model in a consistent way. As organizations change, their business processes have to change with them. Agility at this process level is essential - the ability to quickly adapt to changes in market conditions, regulatory requirements, or business models. Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) forms the foundation of process agility. SOA enables business processes to be abstracted out of the underlying application systems, yet work with the functionality of these internal and external assets to deliver more agile processes.
