The energy industry is getting back to normal, based on the healthy rise in deals so far this year. Based on the findings, mergers and acquisitions have bounced back from last year's lows, with 18 percent more transactions during the first half compared to the same time last year. Over the past three quarters, the markets have been aided by higher oil prices, improving capital markets and a slowly growing world economy. This research indicates that Exploration and Production (E&P) transactions continue to make up the majority of acquisition activity, comprising 76 percent of all oil and gas transactions in the first half of 2010.
