This paper examines whether the level of customer satisfaction is impacted by the call center representative being proactive or reactive in compensating the customer, and the degree to which the call center representative corrected the problem. Both the proactiveness of the compensation and degree to which the customer service representative compensated the customer were found to have a significant effect on customer satisfaction. Managerial implications are discussed.
