Executive Summary

The infiltration of malicious software (malware) into ICT infrastructure and systems is now a global issue. It has evolved significantly and is no longer just a threat to industry and individuals but increasingly to the economy and national security. It has grown beyond mere virus attacks on individual computer systems and has been predicted that future attacks will be more sophisticated. Attacks have progressed from curiosity probes to well-funded and well-organized operations for political, military, economic and technical espionages. These emerging threats and its consequence on the overall effectiveness of the public and private organisations in Nigeria form the basis for this paper.
