Channel-And Application-Aware Transmission of Mixed Traffic Over Wireless Shared Channels
The authors will present an advanced transmission strategy for improving the quality when delay-critical video and best-effort data traffic is transmitted in parallel on the downlink of a cellular system. Compared to state-of-the-art solutions, they consider both side information on the channel state and the structure of the packets in the radio link buffers in their optimization. The basic idea is to slow down the transmission to delay-critical video users with favorite channel conditions until the deadline of their Head-Of-Line (HOL) packet in the radio link buffer is approaching. Hence, other video users with worse channel conditions get the chance to finish at least the transmission of the most important parts in their video stream in-time.
