This paper describes the channelization method for the Forward Link of Ultra Mobile Broadband (UMB) Forward Link. It is optimized for encoding/decoding processing time, diversity (especially for latency sensitive data), peak-to-average ratio, link budget (i.e., minimum rate at cell edge), access terminal memory requirements, scalability across various deployment bandwidths to achieve high throughput and highly reliable wireless communications. The Ultra Mobile Broadband (UMB) system is a next generation MIMO-OFDMA-based Wireless WAN (WWAN) standard being developed by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project 2 (3GPP2), to enable ultra-high data rate mobile wireless connectivity.
