Executive Summary

The use of power line as a broadband communication channel has been the focus of researchers since very long. One way of modeling power line as a communication channel is addressed in, where its transfer function for the multipath communication is derived using the chain matrix method. In order to ascertain this transfer function, the author used parameters like propagation constant and characteristic impedance in a lumped-element circuit model by approximating the channel as a two-wire transmission medium. In another approach the power line is modeled as a communication channel with two customary parameters, namely, characteristic impedance and propagation constant using the lumped-element circuit model once again.
