In this paper, the authors propose a cost effective solution based on Low Complexity SeLective Mapping (LC-SLM) Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) reduction scheme to mitigate the clipping and quantization noise in Intensity-Modulated Direct Detection (IM/DD) Optical Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (O-OFDM) systems. They analyze the sensitivity performance of the proposed system for different modulation formats and varying the bit resolution of the Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC). Finally, they present the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance for different clipping levels applying and without applying LC-SLM.
