This paper investigates obstacles to competition in the online advertising and search markets in Australia in the context of developments in cloud computing. It complements an earlier working paper that provides an overview of the industry. The focus is on the implications for regulation of emerging trends in the online advertising and search markets in Australia. The paper considers the application of existing law and regulation to these new markets and technology and the implications of the new markets and technology for existing regulation.
