A top priority for many service providers today is entering the market for cloud computing services. A number of service providers are starting with "Infrastructure-as-a-Service" (IaaS) offerings that enable their customers to run workloads on the provider's infrastructure. Such offerings have also been called "Virtual infrastructure hosting" services. In order to help service providers bring cloud computing services to market, as well as to improve delivery of traditional services in their portfolio, Cisco has developed the Unified Service Delivery solution. This solution combines a baseline architecture that is common to all services with a series of overlays that define how each specific service, such as IaaS, uses this baseline in concert with service-specific elements.
