Co-Existence Studies of LTE-A With Carrier Aggregation at 3.5GHz Band

Carrier aggregation has been adopted as a key technology in 3GPP LTE-Advanced Release 10 to enable extremely high data rate services. However, due to imperfect implementation, Adjacent Channel Interference (ACI) potentially induces inter-system interference among co-existing systems which can greatly degrade performance. In this paper, the authors develop an equivalent Adjacent Channel Interference Ratio (ACIR) model to simplify the general evaluation of all possible CA coexistence scenarios beyond investigations in Release 10, and their methodology can be applied to wider scenarios including considering both FDD and TDD at the same time.
