One issue regarding adaptive learning systems is the provision of learning resources that consist of domain knowledge, pedagogical knowledge with adaptation rules, and learning content. Challenges emerge concerning the lack of usability, interoperability, efficiency and collaboration. This paper critically discusses an enhanced collaborative authoring approach to developing adaptive learning resources. The main motivation behind the proposed approach is the evidence that creating adaptive learning resources is a complex, time-consuming process. Therefore, teachers must work together to reduce individual efforts.
