This paper studied the possibility in a Bluetooth network of using channel simulated results as alternatives to on-site measurements and compares the average localization error as a function of a radio map resolution for the free-space path loss wall Attenuation Factor and Ray-Tracer (RT) models. Three reference radio maps were generated; one for each model. The Nearest Neighbour (NN) RSS based localization algorithm was used in this paper. This algorithm was applied to the three models with different number of reference points. Results obtained show that RT proved to be more robust technique, especially for grid resolution greater than 10 meters.
