Comparative Study for Quadruple Tank Process with Coefficient Diagram Method

Executive Summary

In this paper, a new decoupler method using Coefficient Diagram Method (CDM) for quadruple tank process is proposed. It consists of four inter connected water tanks and two pumps. The major problem in a multivariable process is that the loop interaction may arise and cause difficulty in feedback control design. This problem can be solved using centralized or decentralized controllers. Decentralized CDM controllers are designed for the process. It is shown that CDM design is more stable, responsive and robust. The step response of the quadruple tank system with CDM controller's obtained values and (compared with two dimensional methods.)
