Executive Summary

In this paper, the possible effects of the problem of congestion in Wireless infrastructure LAN are discussed. It presents the discrete-event simulation, provides detailed, accurate network simulation results and it observed a wide variety of network statistics for Congestion Control in Wireless LAN. The software simulation package, OPNET (Optimized Network Engineering Tool), can be best described as a set of decision support tools, providing a comprehensive development environment for the specification, simulation and performance analysis of communication networks, computer systems and applications and distributed systems. Discrete event simulations are used as the means of analyzing the system performance and behavior. OPNET simulations were carried out to estimate the effect of congestion situation on the global performance of the network model.
