The performance of femto-cell networks by means of user connectivity, link spectral efficiency and outage probability is investigated in this letter. Considering a scenario where the femto-base-stations and users are Poisson distributed throughout the two-dimensional plane, the authors derive closed-form equations that establish the relations between those evaluation figures using either Shannon capacity or higher order modulation. Particularly they assess the effects of the density of users on the femto-cell network for several different configurations, providing the guidelines on the most appropriate design strategy for a given network condition.
