Cooperative Caching Protocol for Multimedia Data in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

Recent advancement in multimedia technologies and wireless communications have led to an increasing interest in ad hoc networks which carry multimedia data, are temporarily constructed by mobile hosts. In ad hoc networks, since mobile hosts move freely, disconnections occur frequently, and this causes frequent network division. Consequently, multimedia data accessibility in ad hoc networks is lower due to which streaming of data will become slow and jittering will occur. Caching of frequently accessed multimedia data items on the client side is an effective technique for improving performance in a mobile environment.
