Micro mobility in WiMAX is defined in IEEE802.16e standard. Fast Mobile IPv6 has been used as an IP layer protocol to support macro mobility in WiMAX network. The issue of how to apply IP layer protocol over IEEE802.16e to support seamless communication for real-time applications and high speed users remains an important challenge in mobility management. In this paper an analytical model is developed to evaluate total cost consisting of signaling and packet delivery costs of Optimized Fast Handover Scheme (OFHS) compared with RFC5270. In RFC5270, FMIPv6 has been used over IEEE802.16e protocol to support intra domain handover.
