The Russian market is characterised by important economic growth rates and a highly dynamic environment as a result of recent political and economic changes. For the last eight years, the volume of direct foreign investment has grown tremendously. Today, the investment value in Euros is nearly ten times higher than at the turn of the century. In the course of these developments, a continuously increasing number of Western expatriates have begun working in the Russian market. This study reveals that a high degree of power distance, the strong emphasis on personal relations and a certain lack of formalisation of rules and procedures are important work-related values in Russia.
