Cloud computing infrastructure enables companies to cut costs by outsourcing computations on-demand. However, clients of market-oriented cloud computing services currently have no means of verifying the confidentiality and integrity of their data and computations. This paper discusses the data management issues in market-oriented cloud computing like Amazon web services founded in 1994 and SalesForce.Com founded in 1999. This paper attempts to narrow the scope of potential database application to consider for market-oriented cloud deployment. It decides which data management applications are best suited for deployment on top of cloud computing infrastructure. In order to does this, this paper discusses three characteristics of a cloud computing environment that are most relevant to the discussion.
