Internet has greatly changed the way businesses interact with their clients and suppliers. This paper studies the ways internet can be used to help in the better management of revenues and for reducing costs. The implication of internet for cost reduction has also been studied. The paper explains that the major factor for businesses today is the product differentiation. Internet has led to increase in the efficiency of the fulfillment processes, whereas it has positively impacted the purchase behavior too. All these changes have made the process much more efficient and rewarding both for the businesses and their clients. Internet retail was started in the '90s however, with dot com burst, it lagged a little. However, the concept is making a comeback again. This paper recognizes the potential of the concept. It studies the challenges faced in the process of cost-efficient fulfillment. It enumerates various constraints hindering the process and necessitating attended home delivery. This may be due to perishability, value factor or size of the goods to be delivered. Internet retailers are now enhancing their efficiency. This has been made possible by better deployment of inventories and automating the other processes. The paper also discusses the prerequisites of an effective demand management system.
