The purpose of this paper is to compare different Mobile WiMAX radio network deployment strategies. The evaluation is carried out with extensive Monte Carlo simulations using two different strategies for both network topology and frequency planning. The purpose of the simulations is to evaluate whether WiMAX radio network should be planned to offer continuous indoor coverage or not, and should fractional frequency reuse be utilised. The simulations are used to define maximum cell ranges for each scenario, and the offered capacity is calculated based on the CINR distribution. The simulation results show that significant coverage and capacity gains can be achieved by optimising topology and frequency planning parameters.
