Design of a Novel Energy-Aware Storage System Named DT-MAID
In order to improve the energy saving effect, service quality and reliability of energy-aware storage system, the authors propose a novel energy-aware storage system named Dynamic Tree-based Massive Array of Idle Disks (DT-MAID). The controller design, the load prediction technology of cache disks and the management method of dynamic tree for DT-MAID are studied in detail. The characteristic of DTMAID is that its cache disks are organized as a two-layer dynamic tree. When the load is light, DTMAID can automatically reduce the number of cache disks, and therefore improves the energy saving effect.
