Design of a Patch Array Feed for the Dielectric Lens Antenna Achieving Wide Angle Beam Scanning

Executive Summary

In the recent ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) services using millimeter wave frequency bands, dielectric lens antennas were studied for a radar system of Adaptive Cruse Control (ACC) of automobiles. Authors developed a shaped dielectric lens antenna which was suitable for wide angle beam scanning and beam scanning abilities were ensured. Moreover, by introducing an array feed of rectangular horns, more improvement of the scanned beam gains and radiation patterns were numerically shown. Here, replacement of a horn antenna by a patch antenna is requested in order to reduce a feed volume and weight.
