Executive Summary

The antennas have properties and characteristics to ensure proper operation. The choice of the antenna should take into consideration the application. In the authors' case, the choice fell on the technology of microstrip antennas. The objective of this paper is the analysis, design and characterization of wide band planar antennas for the use in applications over wireless networks. They propose a novel design of small sized, low profile microstrip line patch antenna for WIMAX applications at 3.4 - 3.6 GHz frequency. The simulation, using HFSS, of the patch has given different parameters like return loss, VSWR, gain along Theta, Phi directions, radiation pattern in 2-D and 3-D.
