Design of Reconfigurable Multi-Band Microstrip Patch Antenna with Ground Slit for WLAN & WiMax Applications

With the rapid growth of the wireless mobile communication technology, the future technologies needs a very small antenna and also the need of wide band and multi band antenna is increased to avoid using two antennas. The multi-band antenna is one of the most important elements and commonly used in modern wireless communication. It is incorporated into many multimode receiver designs. WiMax and Wi-Fi are widely applied in wireless device such as femtocell access point. In this paper, a design of reconfigurable rectangular microstrip patch antenna is presented. The antenna is used in WiMax with centre frequency at 3.5GHz and Wi-Fi (WLAN) with centre frequency at 5.2GHz.
