Diesel mechanics' tasks are mainly to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults of diesel vehicles, construction machinery and detached diesel engines, as well as their maintenance. Accuracy, eye-hand co-ordination, deft fingers, practical aptitude and mechanical insight are important qualities. Physical strength is required to handle heavy engine parts and to undo rusted bolts. Since diesel vehicles are used to an ever-increasing degree, prospects for diesel mechanics are favorable.
