Today, that picture has changed considerably, in many ways DR can be considered one of the options available within the Business Continuity Planning (BCP) spectrum. This has a lot to do with the mainstream adoption of the underlying enabling technologies such as virtualisation and storage replication. Virtualisation is changing the way one views and implements DR by making higher availability and continuity options easier to realise. DR is now an affordable risk management alternative for many businesses. When the word Disaster Recovery is mentioned - the mental picture it conjures is complex infrastructure which costs a fortune to deploy and as such only accessible to large multinational businesses. Furthermore, there is lack of information on the true-costs of a disaster on lost revenue.
