As companies drive more and more of their business processes through SAP, supporting infrastructure environments are growing and increasing in complexity. With more and more business critical data stored in SAP applications, the requirement for High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HADR) solutions has increased. Finally, these same companies challenged with global operations requiring 24/7 production environments are more sensitive to downtime impacts. Traditional HADR environments are implemented through operating system, database or storage functionality. As IT environments become more and more complex, the administration of HADR components becomes more complex and expensive as symmetric environments are often required on both the primary (HA) and recovery (DR) sites.
