Multimedia applications require virtually zero-outage connectivity whilst being strictly delay-limited, prone to interference and bandwidth hungry. Among a gamut of technical solutions, cognitive radios and networks have long been perceived as a catalyst of above requirements by facilitating efficient primary/secondary multimedia user coexistence. The degree of coexistence heavily depends on the degree of cognition, where simple opportunistic radios are generally inferior to more complex cognitive devices able to draw intelligent and anticipated decisions.
