Effective Transport Using Concurrent Multipath Transfer by Redundant Transmission During Path Failure
The performance of Concurrent Multipath Transfer is studied using the Multihoming feature of SCTP. During the transmission, the authors understand path failure seriously affects the receiver buffer, by preventing subsequent data to be transmitted into its higher layer. Only one receiver window is kept for the whole association for a multi-homed or for a single address peer. Their modified algorithm diminishes the blocking of receiver buffer. They demonstrate using simulation under assumption that both the sender/receiver having three paths for CMT. By using this algorithm, Concurrent Multipath Transfer-Redundant Transmission (CMT-RT) it is inferred that their algorithm outperforms better than CMT-PF. CMT-RT mechanism in alternate paths resolves this issue and diminishes the receiver buffer (rbuf) block during failure scenarios.
