Reserved LUNs support the copy-on-first-write activities of SnapView sessions, SAN Copy incremental sessions, and MirrorView/A mirrors, providing a consistent point-in-time copy of data Each product has generally the same guidelines for reserved LUN consumption: size of source LUN, rate of change of data on the source LUN. as well as expected duration of the session. At the same time, there are various specific considerations for each product that must factor into the correct sizing of reserved LUNs. The dynamic assignment of reserved LUNs assists users by ensuring that, should reserved LUN space be consumed, the reserved LUNs will be assigned as needed (and as available), thereby ensuring that there are sufficient reserved LUNs in size and quantity as is necessary to support this feature.
