The question of mobile browser security has taken centre stage with the development of Smart Content Distribution Networks (CDNs). Although browser security has been studied in detail in the past few years, this paper suggests that most of them have worked on security of desktop browsers rather than mobile browsers. Recent research trends show that while being used heavily across the globe, mobile browsers are nowhere close to being secure. This has been more evident from the recent mobile worms that affected the Nokia/Symbian platform. The paper goes on to show that the mobile devices currently being used are not suitably resistant to the many browser security attacks. In such a case, a smart CDN or sCDN infrastructure can help protect phone browsers to a great extent. This paper shows that sCDNs are apt for use in the current trends in mobile communication. Through the use of sCDNs, rapid innovation in security mechanisms is made easy. The study showcases that smart CDNs can be used to quickly drive security innovations into the mobile browser space. The paper also underlines the need for security researchers to seriously reflect over the important role that sCDNs can play in enhancing the security of the mobile Web. This is a pressing need considering the number of users who rely heavily on mobile web browsers for their surfing requirements.
