There is a disconnect today concerning the evolving role of the Human Resource function in organizations. HR professionals are expected to ensure compliance to the myriad of workforce laws and regulations. They are expected to guard the most sensitive data in the organization. They are expected to urgently fill employee vacancies with the best and the brightest. Yet, despite these vital tasks, from the viewpoint of many executives and managers, this disconnect is often expressed in an unspoken value judgment - "HR doesn't really contribute to the bottom line." Operational managers, finance managers, sales managers, customer service managers, and IT managers often see HR as necessary but not particularly helpful as an ally in meeting the goals of their respective departments, divisions, or even the entire organization.
