Energy Efficiency Analysis for 802.15.6 based IR-UWB Body Area Wireless Sensor Networks
This paper presents energy performance analysis of recently proposed IEEE 802.15.6 body area wireless network standard. This standard has provided specifications for four possible communication links in body area network. This paper focuses on the body surface to body surface channel (CM3) and body surface to external node channel (CM4). The authors provide analytical expressions for bit error rate and outage probability for Impulse Response Ultra Wide Band (IR-UWB) using Differential Binary Phase Shift Keying (DBPSK) modulation. Energy consumption per bit for CM3 and CM4 channels have been calculated for desired bit error rate in different channel conditions.
